A mother and her three daughters were shot and killed in their suburban Chicago home, during an apparent domestic incident on Sunday, January 21st.
According to Tinley Park Village Manager Pat Carr, the shooting occurred at about 11:20 a.m. in the 7400 block of 173rd Place. A man had called the police and said that someone inside the residence had been shot.
Four women were wounded in the incident, and all were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
One suspect was taken into custody, and a weapon was recovered at the residence, Carr said. Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as Majeda Kassem, 53, and her adult daughters – Halema, 25, Zahia, 25, and Hanan, 24.
“The offender is in custody and the scene is secure,” police said in a statement Sunday.

“My daughter knows them,” neighbor Charlotte Vaitkus said. “She went to school with the oldest son, and she employed the twin sisters. She always talked about how they were all very intelligent and had very high goals in life.”
“We’re still in shock hours later. I can’t believe that this happened a block away from me to people that we knew,” she said.
Vaitkus revealed the family consisted of seven people – a father, a mother, three daughters, and two sons.
“This is a devastating hit to our community but we will rebound and be there for the family and neighbors,” Carr said.
