Crop over [formally called “Harvest Home”], is a Barbados’ annual harvest festival/carnival celebration which attracts people from all over the globe. Its origins can be traced back to the 1780’s, a time when Barbados was the world’s largest producer of sugar Many Bajans who live overseas such ‘Bad girl RiRi’ also return to join the festivities with family and friends. Crop Over festival which begins in June, runs until the first Monday in August when it culminates in the finale, the ‘Grand Kadooment.’ The word Kadooment is a Bajan term meaning a big occasion filled with fun & merriment. The Crop Over summer festival is rated Barbados’ most popular and colorful festival.
