The photograph above captures the moment a lioness crawled up to the open window of American tourist, Katherine Chappell’s car in a South African Safari park. In a matter of seconds, the animal attacked the 29-year-old, mauling her to death. The picture was taken by engineer Ben Govender, who was driving behind the car and stated the he saw the lioness peering into the car at the Lion park, outside Johannesburg.
Until her death, Ms. Chappell was a film visual effect editor. She worked as an editor on the hit TV show ‘Game of Thrones’. She was killed in the Safari park north of Johannesburg on Monday June 1, 2015 while taking a break from a two-week volunteering project on another nature preserve.
Engineer Ben Govender, 38 described the horrific scene as he watched the animal take its first bite out of the passenger on the back seat before retreating from the vehicle, blood dripping from its mouth and paw. May her soul Rest In peace.
