Muhammadu Buhari takes over Nigeria for the second time as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria today. Dressed in traditional outfit known as dashiki, the former military ruler stood on the stage holding a copy of the Quran in his right hand as he pledged to uphold Nigeria’s constitution and laws.
He pledged to fight against Boko Haram Islamist extremists and added that he will endeavor to root out human rights violations by the military abuses that hampered the U.S. and Britain from giving their maximum support. “Boko Haram is a mindless, godless group, who are as far away from Islam as one can think,” He said. Buhari defeated Goodluck Jonathan in March election. I pray that God will grant him the wisdom to embark on this journey.
In attendance were, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, and many other representatives from different countries.
