A Chinese man named Xiao
Wei’s right lower arm was severed at work due to an accident on November 10, 2013.
Doctors successfully attached the decapitated hand to his ankle temporarily to
keep it living prior to reattaching it to its normal position.
In Wei’s own words, “I
was just shocked and frozen at the spot, until co-workers unplugged the machine
and retrieved my hand and took me to the hospital.” Local doctors could not
help, so Wei went to a regional hospital where specialists took a second look
at his injuries. “I am still young, and I couldn’t imagine life without a
right hand,” Wei added. He will
soon undergo re-attachment surgery. Thank God for fast thinking doctors.
