3,500 Unification Church Members Tied The Knot In First 'Post Moon' Mass Wedding

Intimate: Some 3,500 couples exchanged or reaffirmed marriage vows in the Unification Church's mass wedding arranged by Hak Ja Han Moon, wife of the late Sun Myung Moon

About 3,500 Moonies exchanged
marriage vow in the Unification Church’s mass wedding arranged by Hak Ja Han Moon, wife of the late Sun Myung on Sunday, Feb.17 2013 in south
Korea.
It was the first mass wedding since the
death of the church founder Sun Myung Moon
Also, 24,000 followers, who have been nicknamed ‘Moonies’ after
the church’s founder Sun Myung Moon, were also married in other countries via video link.
The ceremony was presided over by 70-year-old Hak Ja-han – ‘mother Moon’ – the widow of Sun Myung Moon, who died in September. She
presided for the first time without her husband who died five months ago at the
age of 92, due to complications from pneumonia.
The church’s mass
wedding began in the early 1960s. Initially, they involved a few dozen couples
but the numbers skyrocketed over the years. Many of the couples had just met a
few days earlier with some not even speaking the same language
