A Tribe in Papau New Guinea Honour their Dead by Smoking them and Using the Fat as Cooking Oil.

A family carries a mummy back to the cave above the village after carrying out essential restoration work

From the cliffs of the Anga village
in Papua New Guinea’s Morobe highlands, charred Corpses gawp at passers-by.
Their flesh stained red, and they appear to be constricted within cages of
bamboo.
Every corpse, men, women and children
are skillfully smoke -cured like kippers. First, experienced embalmers
make cuts in the feet, knees and elbows of the carcass, to allow body fat to
drain away, before poking bamboo poles into their guts and collecting the
drippings. The drippings are then smeared onto the skin and hair of
surviving relatives in a ritual believed to transfer the strength of the dead
into the living. Any leftovers are used as cooking oil, for the same reason.
Their flesh is stained red and placed in cages of bamboo. They then sew shut
the eyes, mouth and anus of the body they’re working on, to reduce the air
intake in an attempt to prevent the flesh from decomposing. The soles of
the feet, palms of the hands and tongue are sliced off and presented to the
surviving spouse and then whatever that is left is smoke cured over a fire pit,
before being coated in clay and ochre to ward-off scavengers.
These watchers are believed to be
the guardians of the village. The most-respected warriors are placed on special
lookout points on the cliffs, watching out for invaders.
The Catholic Church condemned the practice
and it has also been banned since 1975, when PNG gained its independence.
But in remote parts, where even
today few missionaries dare to tread, a few tribes still prefer to mummify
their dead – perhaps to keep the priests away.

Nigeria's Former Minister of Transportation, Umaru Dikko is Dead

The renowned Politician and former Minister of Transportation [1979 – 1983], during Nigeria’s second Republic died at the age of 78, in a London hospital early this morning. Family members said that late Dikko suffered three massive strokes back to back and had been sick for a while, according to Premium Times.

Dikko was a member of the National Party of Nigeria, which was the ruling party then. In 1979, he was made Shagari’s campaign manager, and he was known as one of the most powerful ministers under the Shehu Shagari’s regime in the early 1980s. Dikko was a trusted adviser to President Shehu Shagari. When the military ousted the regime via a coup d’etat in 1983, Mr. Dikko escaped to the UK on exile.

Remember the Dikko Affair? It was an attempt by the Nigerian government to kidnap Umaru Dikko from United Kingdom on July 5, 1984, and secretly transport him back to Nigeria. He was found drugged in a crate at Stansted Airport that was to be claimed as Diplomatic Bag. The kidnapping actually took place, but transporting him back to Nigeria was unsuccessful, after it was thwarted by a British custom officer, David Morrow who narrated to BBC World Service Witness programme what transpired. Dikko returned to Nigeria the following decade. RIP Mr. Dikko.

FIFA 2014 WORLD CUP: France advances to the Quarter-Final Stage

Music Video: "Say Yes" by Michelle Williams Ft. Beyonce & Kelly Rowland.

Michelle Williams 33, has just released the video for her brand new single “Say Yes.” She used the opportunity to reunite Destiny’s Child singers. The song is featured on her upcoming album, “Journey to freedom,” which is expected to be released on September 9, 2014. Nice song, but she should not forget that it originated from Naija..he..he .he. Ain’t nothing wrong in emulating good things. Naija people are very creative, no doubt.  Her own version is catchy and up-beat also.

IMAGINE! Croatian Newspaper Publishes Pantless Photos of Their World Cup Players after they Lost to Brazil.

Wow! this is so wrong. After loosing to Brazil on their opening match of 2014 World Cup, the players decided to have a pant-less party at their hotel pool. Unknowingly to them, two Croatian photographers hid in the bush and took pictures of Southampton defender Dejan Lovren and former Manchester City and Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka swimming butt naked and published them online. The outcome is that the players have decided to boycott the media as a punishment for their act. They really hit them below the belt.

When asked why his players have refused to talk to the press in the on-going World Cup, the angry coach Niko Kovac said, “If people publish your naked pictures and show to the world, without considering your family, would you like it,?  “I can’t force them to be at your disposal after what you have done to them and their families. How would you feel if someone took naked pictures of you? They are adamant that they won’t speak to you lot any more and I don’t know whether the silence will end tomorrow or last until the end of our World Cup campaign. I respect my players’ opinion and I also know that you have done a very professional job so far but you blew it with this one. The whole world has seen the photos.” He added.
